Palestinian Truck Driver Kills 4, Injures Others in Jerusalem
New York Times – A Palestinian truck driver drove into a crowd of Israeli soldiers on Sunday, killing four people and wounding many others. The spot of the attack was a popular tourist location in Jerusalem and the truck driver was said to have reversed after the initial drive in an attempt to kill more people. He was shot and killed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the attacker had ties to ISIS.
Israeli Diplomat Filmed Discussing Desire to “Take Down” UK Politicians
The Guardian – Shai Masot, an official at the Israeli embassy in London was caught on film saying that he wanted to “take down” UK Members of Parliament (MPs) who were critical of Israeli and/or supportive of Palestine. Masot specifically mentioned Foreign minister Sir Alan Duncan and also referred to Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson as an “idiot.” Israeli ambassador Mark Regev apologized to Duncan and the embassy has said that Masot “will be ending his term of employment with the embassy shortly.”
Texas Senator and Governor Meet with Taiwanese President
Washington Post – Senator Ted Cruz and Governor Greg Abbott say they met on Sunday with Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen while she was in Houston. Cruz said they discussed the mutual desire to increase “economic cooperation” as well as arms sales and diplomatic exchanges. Abbott, meanwhile, said he discussed energy and trade relations with the President. This meeting comes a few weeks after President-Elect Donald Trump talked to President Tsai on the phone, putting China on edge.
