Pelosi on Gorsuch: ‘A Very Hostile Appointment’

CNN – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi blasted President Donald Trump’s newly named Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch as “a very hostile appointment” and “a very bad decision, well outside the mainstream of American legal thought.”

“Elections have ramifications, and here is a living, breathing example of it,” Pelosi said Tuesday night during a CNN town hall moderated by Jake Tapper.

Iran Launches A Missle Testing Trumps Vows of Strict Enforcement

New York Times – Iran conducted its first missile test since President Trump took office, American and Israeli officials said Monday, posing an early test of whether the Trump administration will make good on its promises to strictly enforce all aspects of the Iranian nuclear deal and a side agreement on missile testing.

The Iranian missile traveled about 600 miles, but its re-entry vehicle reportedly exploded before the flight was complete. It is unclear whether that was accidental or a deliberate detonation.

Israel’s United Nations ambassador, Danny Danon, accused Iran of violating a Security Council resolution passed in 2015, shortly after the nuclear accord was reached in Vienna.

Major Lyft Investors Support Trump, Even Worse Than Uber CEO

Afropunk – In the shitstorm that has characterized the President Agent Orange’s first two weeks in office, nothing created the level of protest that the travel ban on Muslim immigrants and refugees. While many American citizens, legal residents, and green card holders were being detained at airports across the nation, allegedly Uber tried to break the blockade of NYC Taxi drivers protesting at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, NY. As a result of this, as well as the knowledge that Uber’s CEO is on an economic advisory board for Trump, Twitter went ablaze with calls to #DeleteUber and shift support to Lyft.
What flew under the radar was that Trump supporters and advisors Carl Icahn (appointed last December by Trump as a special advisor on regulation) and Peter Thiel (Trump Economic advisor) are significantly more responsible for Trump’s election and are directly tied to Lyft through their hefty investments.

Boy Scouts Will Admit Transgender Boys

NPR – In a surprise announcement, the Boy Scouts of America said that it will begin accepting transgender boys who want to join its scouting programs.

The Scouts’ policy change came in a written and video statement released by Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh. He said that for more than a hundred years the Scouts used the information on an individual’s birth certificate to determine a boy’s eligibility to join its single gender programs.

“Communities and state laws are now interpreting gender identity differently than society did in the past,” Surbaugh said, “and these new laws vary widely from state to state.

Donald Trump’s Company is Receiving Direct Payments From Foreign Agents Right Now

Huffington Post – President Donald Trump’s business receives direct payments from a registered foreign agent funded by the government of Abu Dhabi.

The U.S. headquarters for the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority is located on the 22nd floor of Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue — just four floors below the president’s penthouse apartment. The authority, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment, promotes tourism to Abu Dhabi, which is part of the United Arab Emirates. It has been registered as a foreign agent with the U.S. Department of Justice since 2012.
